Sentence Game

I propose a new game that I think could become quite interesting. As the three-word game's degree of potential to interest exceeds that of the word association game, I think that a sentence game will likewise compare as equally to the three-word game.

Rule:

Each post must be a complete sentence that, hopefully, in some way at least, follows logically from the previous.

To start:

The sword, battered and blood-stained, lay upon the golden altar next to the headless boy.

alright, seriously now. what are the rules? does the sentence have to contain subject and verb or can it be a fragment, eg: 'eh?'
